Electric and unexpected. 37th Street embodies the creative energy of the fashion industry that flourishes throughout the garment district in NYC. This pieces was handcrafted using techniques more traditional to fashion than furniture fabrication. The acrylic structure of the table was woven with embossed leather strips that were carefully secured with pyramid nail head studs. These materials were all purchased on 37th street in the garment district, giving the piece its namesake. Its unique form is visually similar to a twirling pleated gown or a spinning saw blade. This was an intentional contrast to highlight the creative synergy between furniture and fashion design.
